Registration Hints:

Select how many TOTAL tickets you would like (you + guests.)  This system allows you to enter your guest information while still recognizing you as the inviting member of STAR.  In order to allow STAR event coordinators to gather appropriate data please answer EVERY question presented for you and your guests.

Breakfast events do not require you to print a ticket.  Once you've completed registration and paid, you are done.  Just show up to the event and your name badge will be waiting for you!

Guest Qualifications:

Please be sure your guests display the minimum 10 years of experience in their field of expertise and that they have established relationships in San Diego.  We are a group of  "givers" and hope to surround ourselves by others with the same credo. 

Please be cognizant of industries represented in STAR meetings that may be "over represented."  Let's collectively agree to broaden the industries represented and not invite potential members that create further concentrations.

How to Become a STAR Member...

WHY STAR?  There are many “referral-type” meeting entities.  Some charge as much as $1,000 monthly and require an annual commitment.  Others have nominal dues commitments, but STAR offers monthly venues that always have the quantity and quality of attendees that you  deserve.

STAR’s attendance commitment is nominal and would cost the same as having a breakfast or lunch meeting.  It has a long-term perspective and attendees who aren't there just to solicit business, but to develop quality relationships.  Frankly, the number and caliber of STAR’s attendees and the fact they are not from the same professional background assures meeting new high caliber people with the gravitas that is not offered by most other groups.  And, since the guests are rotating, about 20%+ of each meeting has new faces offering new connections.  If you have comments, please email any one of our Founders.  If you would like to attend a future event, a list of Members is provided for you to contact about coming as their guest.

STAR Membership requires attendance by being invited as a guest by an existing STAR Member.  First time guest attendance is complimentary with the cost of the meal paid by the inviting Member.  Should the guest have interest in STAR membership, they may notify the Member who invited or a Core Member or Founder.  They must attend a second event and are encouraged to meet with a Core or Founder either at the monthly venue or offsite to express their continued interest in joining.  If at least two Core Members/Founders approve the prospective member and no Core Member/Founder dissents, the offer of Membership is extended.  The process may take from 30 to 60 days from initial interest to acceptance due to Core meetings occurring once monthly. 

To retain “Member” status, one must agree to attend 75% of monthly events each calendar year and invite at least one new guest of “STAR” caliber to at least 75% of annual venues.  Members must pay for their guests' first meal and are responsible for adequate notification of cancellation.  The average professional experience of STAR members is 20+ years.

What is the difference between a STAR “Core Member” and a “Member”?  In addition to accepting the responsibility of membership, the STAR Core Members develop and facilitate STAR’s vision and monthly activities as well as vet new members for admission.  They act as STAR’s Board, ensuring fairness and fresh ideas and will transition in 2010 with a new Core.
